Sexy Halloween!!

Is Halloween sexy?

I must admit I have never gone in for the fetish/sexy Halloween costume thing but since I started writing erotic romance I am SO upset I didn't think to write a Halloween based story this year! How much fun to set a sizzling witch/vampire dressed couple getting it on at a costume party...or a hunky zombie searching for his blood-thirsty devil's assistant at the creepy forest where no one in town ever goes on Halloween...

Why didn't these story ideas come to me months ago when I should have been making my Halloween submission?? Well, that opportunity may be gone but it's certainly started me thinking about other holiday themes and the sexy, sensual scenarios they evoke.

I would love to know how soon before the big date you guys submit your 'holiday' stories or where you look for your inspiration? Or better still, anyone want to tell us about your recently released Halloween offering? I could do with downloading some scary, sexy reading tonight!

Welcome prolific writer, jennifer Leeland!

I am thrilled to welcome Jennifer to my blog today - Jennifer is one of the very first US writer friends I made (many moons ago!) and we have stayed in contact since, which is great!

I love hearing what she is up to and following her continuing success, so please give her a warm (or hot!) welcome. Take it away, Jen!

"It's almost Halloween and the season is perfect for writing. I love to have the day to write when the rain pours from threatening clouds and the wind blows through trees making a soft, mysterious sound.

I always think of Mary Shelley's story of how "Frankenstein" was written one dismal summer when winter never went away. That classic was produced because of the menacing face of Mother Nature. And its gothic quality is evidence of the oppressive weather that gave rise to a monster.

Right now, the rain, the moon, the fog all help to inspire me in my current work in progress. Joshua Atticus Arundale, Earl of Arundale and absentee husband is a man at war with himself. When his emotions overwhelm him, when passion takes him, he becomes a beast, more wolf than man, more instinctual than intellectual. The two sides of him fight for dominance and the man wins through control and cunning.

Out of fear of the damage the darker side of himself could do, he ran from his home, his wife, his responsibilities, leaving wreckage of a different kind behind him. For ten years, he stayed away, isolated, arrogant and miserable. It isn't until his wife and home are threatened by a killer that he faces his own fears and comes home,

Arundale Hall is a crumbling Norman fortress, buttressed occasionally by rabid building by optimistic heirs. Ultimately, however, it's the fitting home of an agonized monster, complete with familial betrayal and mysterious murders.

Gothic indeed.

The hardest thing for me to do in this story is stay in the gothic historical mode. It's so easy to slip into a lighter place, wanting to alleviate the dark angst that torments the main characters. The desire to push the romance forward, to make it all okay so the darkness backs away is so strong, I've found scenes popping up where they don't belong.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0OwgPnTYXo&feature=related

The weather definitely helps! It certainly creates the mood I'm looking for!

Joshua isn't finished yet, but I do have a new release coming soon from Liquid Silver Books called "Commanded To Mate". Speaking of "monsters", this story features an alien with four eyes and four arms with scales enough to scare anyone. And Sierra has to marry one of them.

Bound Among the Stars
by Jennifer Leeland and Mima

In the future, a man’s name is still the key to freedom and a beast can still be set free by love.

Some things never change. Fairy tales reach forward into the stars with this duo of heroes trapped in desperate circumstances. Incredible sex isn’t a magical answer, and there aren’t any magic wands. It’s up to a brave princess and a sweet baker to discover happy endings must be earned.

“Commanded to Mate” by Jennifer Leeland

The proud lovely colonist is bound to marry an alien beast.

Terrified Sierra Pasquel agrees to an arranged marriage to the monstrous Dormrelian ambassador. To save her family and her colony, she’ll do whatever it takes, including a four-eyed, four-armed beast of an alien.
Terek Majii is the holder of a centuries-old secret cursing his race. His people are on the edge of extinction and Sierra holds the key. As he teaches her about passion through touch, not sight, he prays he’ll be able to win her trust. Not because two colonies depend on them, but because his love for her is everything.

“Bitter Gold” by Mima

An innocent woman is bound to an alien slave.

Stillskin lives for the day he can rid himself of the slave clamp around his heart and leave this den of powerful addicts. Then his foul masters drag Liese to the enclave. The kind baker is the one spot of pleasure in his life, and he will risk much to help her.

He is the most exotic thing she’s ever seen, dark and stoic. If only there was a way she could help free him. When she is kidnapped and taken to the disgusting enclave, she believes it means her death. But Stillskin convinces her to fight back. Now two friends are trapped in a dire race for freedom.

I was lucky enough to do this anthology with Mima, (http://www.mimawithin.com/) one of the best erotic writers I know.

Be sure to check out some of my other books too at http://www.jenniferleeland.com/

Thank you, Rachel, for letting me guest blog!

One thing. Let me know what dark, gothic books are your favorite? Shelley's "Frankenstein"? Or "Jane Eyre"? Or something else?

I'm always looking for new gothic inspirations. Tell me your favorite!

Taryn Kincaid is here talking about her latest release!

I am hoping to catch up with Taryn again later so I can post her interview but in the meantime, here is the blurb and an excerpt from her latest Wild Rose Press release, Sleepy Hollow Dreams...enjoy!

Is he the man of her dreams…or her worst nightmare?

All Katy Lyndhurst wants is a normal suburban Sleepy Hollow life, despite the strange things that keep happening to her. Blistering hot erotic dreams bleed into her waking hours, making her yearn for her dream lover to materialize. When her sexy dream voyager, Ryck, shows up in the flesh and ignites her steamiest passions, she wonders if he's a sultry fantasy conjured by her fevered brain…or something much more dangerous?

Centuries ago, a wicked succubus cursed Ryck Van Winkle to fulfill the desires of sleeping women while unable to take pleasure himself. Only Katy possesses the power to break the spell and awaken him. But Ryck’s defiance sparks the demon’s fury, causing supernatural portals to crumble and allowing demonic minions to threaten Katy and her world.

Now Katy and Ryck must battle the forces of darkness together. But will Ryck will be trapped forever in her Sleepy Hollow Dreams?

Excerpt:

Galloping hoof beats pursued her down the old post road.

Ghostly hoof beats. The legendary Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow.

Chasing her.

With deadly purpose.

Faster and faster.

Katy ran on, her sides cramping. Her flip-flops smacked asphalt but the clop of the demonic hooves echoed louder. She clattered into the street as the sidewalk ended, and gasped for air.

A piece of one rubber thong broke and she stumbled, tripping onto the grassy median bordering Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Her shriek ripped through the quiet suburban village. Utter fatigue claimed her, halting her steps. She collapsed in exhaustion, her sleep-drenched mind blanking as she fell.

Hard-muscled arms scooped her up before she hit the ground. The horse’s unearthly scream ripped through her as the beast thundered past. Her rescuer clasped her against his broad, masculine chest. A familiar glow of warmth stole over her, filling her with a sense of peace and security...

Beneath her ear, a strong heartbeat pulsed, quickening in time to the increased thudding of her own. His autumn scent seduced her as he swept her away, his long-legged strides purposeful and sure. She rested her cheek against his shoulder, her head fitting perfectly in the hollow of his neck. Her fear ebbed, replaced by desire.

A large hand slid over her breasts, her nipples already taut and straining with need against the thin cotton of her dress. She arched into him, rubbing herself against him like a cat in heat, rewarded by his harsh gasp and the ragged hitch in his breathing.

Moments later he carried her into the cemetery, and she felt the soft October earth, rich and spongy, at her back. Large, manly hands made quick work of the few clothes she wore.

“I’m dreaming,” she murmured.

“No. Not this time. Open your eyes.”

Woo-hoo, fabulous!! Hopefully more to follow from Taryn later...

YAY!! We've managed to catch up with each other and here is Taryn's interview - as promised!

1) Who is your favourite author and why?

Recently finished Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione and now I'm captivated by her Demonica series. Must get them all. Not often you find a HOT doctor who's an incubus demon, after all! Also love everything by Nalini Singh. Plowing through her Psy-Changeling series, as we speak. Lately, I've been picking up some really, really terrific e-novellas from The Wild Rose Press and Carina Press. (Can't name names without getting myself in trouble!)

2) When did you first consider yourself a writer?

When I first was able to get all those squiggly marks to line up and march across a piece of paper!

3) Describe your writing space?

Cluttered!

4) What are you reading now?

Mine to Possess, Book 4, of Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series. Next up, Sandra Sookoo's Angel's Master.

5) How many books have your written?

Lots. Many of which are gathering dust. And dust bunnies. Hear them growling?

6) Which is your favourite?

That's a little like asking a mother who her favorite child is! I'll be diplomatic and say, "Why, the current WIP, of course."

7) What comes first, plot or characters?

Oh, characters. Definitely. It's all about the characters. They'll tell you where they want to go and what they want to do. Or why they don't!

8) Do you ever suffer from writer’s block?

Oh, no. Never. BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HAH!

9)What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Reading, movies. Feeding my Twitter and Blogger addiction! Just started getting on Goodreads. So far, cannot figure out how to comment, even! I'm such a non-geek.

10) Tell us about your latest book?

Sleepy Hollow Dreams is an erotic paranormal that started as a mild-mannered little Halloween story and morphed into something steamy, sizzling, dreamy... and erotic.

11) What’s next for you?

Switching gears from erotic paranormal to Regency historical! Healing Hearts will be released by Carina Press in February!

Great having you, Taryn! Apologies for not posting everything as it should be - your fans are patient people, I'm sure!

My second novella is out there!

I've just realized that although my second novella, 'Coming Back' has been under consideration for the last six weeks, I have not posted the blurb for you guys to check out! Naughty, Rachel!

So here it is, hope you are looking forward to reading Kelly and Sean's journey as much as I did writing it...

Kelly Hampton loved and lost him – for the last two years she’s looked for him in other men but now she refuses to emotionally cripple herself any longer. No more sex until she knows for sure she is in love.

And then the love of her life walks back into her bar claiming to still love her. Her heart hitches and her body heats – no-one has ever come close to understanding her, or worse…satisfying her like him.

When Sean McKenzie left Jessop Hill with his mother to protect her from his father’s fists, he should’ve known he would never love again after his explosively erotic relationship with Kelly. But now his father is dead and Sean is back for the only woman he will ever want. Their reunion is full of fire, pain and passion – and once they touch, the sexual connection is too much for either of them to resist…

Hopefully, I have some good news on this one soon!

Love,

Rachel x

Sara York is talking Sci-Fi Erotic Romance...

This is a brand new sub-genre for me, Sara so I am really looking forward to reading your post - and your stories!

I’m so happy to be here on Rachel Leigh’s blog. If you haven’t checked out Rachel’s book, Explicitly English, you should. Rachael’s book is all about British stockbrokers and other humans. Mighty sexy humans I might say, where as my books are a bit more alien in nature.

In Runaway Princess, Regina, has run away to the pleasure planet to find--well pleasure and loads of it. But she get’s more than she bargains for when she’s sold as a slave. She’s got to use her smarts and her body to survive. What she doesn’t know is the man who bought her isn’t who she thinks he is. Runaway Princess is the follow up to Princess Slave.

Back here on planet Earth women are sold as sex slaves and their lives aren’t glamorous or good. They have little chance of escape. If you are interested in learning more about preventing human trafficking click here - HumanTrafficking.org.

Sex is wonderful when shared between two consenting adults. In

>Speedtracer Olivia is a kick ass assassin who got caught off guard by her enemy. She’s ready to rip his throat out but soon becomes a consenting adult once she sees what Keenan looks like. He’s hotter than hot more tasty than ice-cream. Totally yummy and Olivia doesn’t hesitate to take a bite.

You might wonder why I chose to write Sci-Fi erotic romance. Sex shared by humans can be wild and exciting, but sex in other worlds can be way out there. With Regina in Runaway Princess, the pleasure planet is a total fantasy world where anything goes. I like the freedom of writing characters with unique parts that take acrobatic sex to interesting heights.

I write erotic romance because sex between two people can be so beautiful when they develop a relationship that is super deep. I hope that you can see the deep development with my characters and grow to love them as I have. Check me out at Sarayork.com

First of all, thank you so much for your kind comments regarding Explicitly English! I kind of like the characters too, yum!

Great post as an intro to this genre of erotic romance - I have to be honest, I didn't know it existed! Did you always enjoy straight Sci-Fi and then add your own sexy mix?

Fabulous Scarlet Rose author, Helen Hardt is here!

I am so happy to be interviewing fellow Wild Rose Press author, Helen Hardt today - Helen writes hot stories for both Wild Rose, Ellora's Cave and most recently, Aspen Mountain Press. Prolific and generous with her knowledge, welcome Helen!

1) Who is your favourite author and why?

Thank you for having me today, Rachel!

Wow, that is a tough question. I enjoy so many authors. My friend April Vine, for instance, writes sizzling stories with a humor and grace that leaves me breathless. My friend Cari Quinn is equally talented. My friend Monica Kaye is nothing short of truly entertaining! I guess if I had to choose, though, I’d say Lisa Kleypas. She is the one who inspired me to try writing romance. Her stories are so full of emotion, which is what I strive for in my own work.

2) When did you first consider yourself a writer?

I guess when I started writing with the goal of publication. I didn’t consider myself an “author” until I was published.

3) Describe your writing space?

I am lucky in that I have a home office. It’s a fairly large room. My desk and credenza sit near the bay window. On my wall are my college and law degrees along with my writing awards. Opposite my desk are my bookshelves that are stacked three deep. So many books, so little time! Behind my desk is a smaller shelf where I keep my books related to the craft for easy access while I’m working.

4) What are you reading now?

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

5) How many books have you written? Which is your favourite?

I’ve written many! Fourteen have been published. A favorite? That’s a tough one. Usually it’s the one I’m working on at the time. If I have to choose, I have a soft spot for Blood Wolf, my werewolf story at The Wild Rose Press (in the Got Wolf Volume One anthology.) The hero is a little tormented (I’m a sucker for a tormented hero) but loves his heroine with a fierce passion that even he doesn’t understand. I truly enjoyed writing him.

6) >What comes first, plot or characters?

It depends. Sometimes the title comes first. That was the case with Thai’d Up, an erotic short at The Wild Rose Press, and Pianist Envy, a novella at Ellora’s Cave. With those titles, I knew I had to write the stories!

7) Do you ever suffer from writer’s block?

Oh God, yes! I don’t know a writer who doesn’t. I’ve found the best thing to do is to just sit my butt down and write. I’ve gotten some of my best stuff when I had no idea where I was going. The longer I keep from just sitting down and doing it, the harder it is to get back in that chair.

8) What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I spend a lot of time attending my sons’ sports and music performances.

The older is an award-winning pianist and vocalist, and the younger a championship football and basketball player. I also love to cook, read, go Harley riding with my husband, and relax!

9) Tell us about your latest book?

I have two current releases:

Pianist Envy is a contemporary erotic novella at Ellora’s Cave.

Blurb:

Huge success has so far eluded musician Jane Rock. Coming from a modest background, she’s had to work hard for everything she has. When a music agent attends one of her rock band’s performances at a local club, she thinks her big break has finally come, until an inebriated—though handsome and muscular—patron spoils her show.

Classical pianist Chandler Hamilton has had most of his success handed to him due to his family name. He has his reasons for detesting rock music, but he finds himself drawn to beautiful and talented Jane. Although the two sizzle between the sheets, outside the bedroom they bicker endlessly and envy what they perceive as the other’s good fortune. When Jane needs a favor, Chandler resists. Can love blossom amid clashing notes and tempos?

Calendar Boy is a contemporary erotic novella, and is part of The Cougar Club series at Aspen Mountain Press.

Blurb:

Forty-five year old erotic romance author Stacy Oppenheimer has always been an introvert, and her recent divorce has left her scared of her own shadow. But when her favorite cover model, Michael Moretti, corners her at a writers’ conference, she swallows her inhibitions for a moment and teases him a little.

Michael Moretti, age thirty-six, knows his career as a cover model and exotic dancer is rapidly coming to an end due to his age. He has his own reasons for attending this conference—find an attractive older woman who he can woo into keeping him in the lifestyle to which he’s become accustomed. Lovely Stacy fits his requirements nicely.

With Michael’s help, Stacy begins to overcome her shyness and engages in some exciting activities both outside and inside the bedroom. But she’s nobody’s sugar mama, and she makes that clear to him when she finds out his ulterior motive. Too bad for Michael, who finds out he just might be in a little deeper than he thought.

10) What’s next for you?

Getting back into the swing of things! I have several works that need polishing so I can get them submitted. I also have lots of ideas for my Ellora’s Cave editor. It’s just a question of getting them done! Story of a writer’s life…

Bio:

Helen Hardt is an attorney and stay-at-home mom turned award-winning romance author. She met her real-life hero in law school, and they live in Colorado with their two teenage sons. Helen writes contemporary, historical, paranormal, and erotic romance for Ellora’s Cave, The Wild Rose Press, and Aspen Mountain Press. Her non-writing interests include Harley rides with her husband, attending her sons’ sports and music performances, traveling, and Taekwondo (she’s a blackbelt.) Visit Helen at www.helenhardt.com and www.helensheroes.blogspot.com.

Great interview, Helen and two fantastic-sounding releases! Off to purchase right now, loving the covers, you must be thrilled! Helen is waiting for your questions and comments, guys....

Thursday, 14 October 2010

Well, thank you for starting our morning the right way, Miss Vine....come to Mama!!

Phew-wee, how does it feel staring at this particular hunk of love over your morning coffee, ladies?? (Apologies for my total lack of professionalism to my male guest author of a couple of days ago, but please, Brindle, these things just have to be acknowledged!) I am so glad you popped by, April...oh, indeed, I am...

Ahem, right, leering over - time to find out more about my guest author and fellow WRP writer, April Vine!!

1) Did you set any goals for 2010?

Not very precise ones, I’m afraid. I dubbed 2010 the year of the WIP – a very ambiguous statement since I meant finishing current works in progress not creating new ones. I will have to be much clearer next year!

2) What is the best part of the writing process for you?

Apart from signing a new contract which is the ultimatum best part for me, it has to be starting a new story. It’s all new and crisp and vague because I’m a punster and I have no idea what’s going to happen next but most importantly because at the start of a new story I haven’t yet written myself into oblivion : )

3) The worst part?

Not so much the worst part as it is the hardest part, but staying committed to a story from start to finish without getting distracted as easily as I do. Hence the rewording of next year’s goals.

4) What is the book you wish you’d written?

Yann Martel’s Life of Pi. I loved every word in that book.

5) Favourite author/s & book/s?

Too many to name. I do enjoy literary novels, JM Coetzee, Andre Brink, Pamela Jooste - all South African greats. I love reading erotic romance by some of the finest and nicest authors on the web and I discover a new author almost every other week.

6) Tell us about your latest release?

My latest erotic romance, Intrigue in India, comes from The Wild Rose Press Destination Pleasure Series. Here’s the blurb:
“All you have to do is disguise yourself, pretend to be me, go to India and meet the man I’m supposed to marry. By the time he realizes you’re not me, I’ll have already eloped…”

After a break up with her boyfriend, Haley Kent agrees to her best friend, Anjali’s madcap plan, hoping mystical India will help her find inner peace. Instead Anjali’s arranged future husband turns out to be a gorgeous Indian God with a touch that scorches.

Rajeev Yuvaraj refuses to be outsmarted by the sexy, blonde, blue-eyed American and devises his own retribution. A bride is what he expected and a bride is what he would get even if it meant handcuffing Haley to his wrist during the marriage ceremony.

But when Haley discovers the true nature of his secret scheme, can Rajeev seduce her back into his arms again?

7) Tease us with a blurb/short except

I’d love to. Here’s a small excerpt.

“Any luck?”

Haley spun around, her breath freezing as she took in the man standing in the center of the room. He had removed his bridegroom clothes and wore only a pair of black silk drawstring sleeping pants. Her eyes grazed over his golden skin and followed the contours of his wide shoulders, deep collar bones, angles, planes and sinewy muscles of his chest and abdomen and lower to the impressive bulge in his pants.

She ignored the need to rake her fingers through his midnight blue hair, denying the need to know if it felt as soft as it looked. She refused to be mesmerized by his aphrodisiac hazel eyes, veiled with the thickest, silkiest, and darkest eyelashes. She had no desire for him to drag her beneath his body while his beautifully chiseled lips skimmed her skin. She swallowed uncomfortably. Then why were those thoughts rampant in her head? It must be the air.

“Gandhi would have turned the other cheek.”

“I am hardly as saintly.” His eyes roved the length of her body, lazily outlining her nakedness beneath the negligee. She held her breath as his blazing gaze scorched the delicate red lace scarcely concealing her breasts. Her nipples swelled in supplication. He glanced back up at her, daring to her react. Haley barely resisted the overwhelming urge to offer them up to him.

She tilted her head, narrowed her eyes and hoped for a show of indifference. He licked his sensual lips and her indifference faltered. Even tightening her legs failed to prevent the drizzle of cream seeping onto her thighs.

“Have you ever been cuffed and fucked before, Haley?” he drawled, leaning onto a marble desk, nonchalantly twirling the set of satin-covered handcuffs in his long, toffee-colored fingers. The very handcuffs she wore to her wedding.

8) What is your favourite attribute of the hero and heroine?

My heroine’s loyalty to her friend, definitely is an attribute I admire.
For my hero, his eight pack? : ) Rajeev is a bad boy – he doesn’t take being deceived jovially and does not cut corners with his own payback. But the attribute I favor most about him, is when the time came, he did the right thing and went after Haley.

9) What’s next?

I have numerous projects I’m working on right now, from demons to femdoms and nannies and princesses. My lovely CPs will steer me right before I start submitting.

10) Tell me where you write?

Always on my bed with my laptop on my knees.

11) Where would you like your career to be in 5 years?

I hope to have made a name for myself with lots of published works and just to continue doing what I love which is write write write.

12) Where can we find you?

I have a website: www.aprilvine.co.za
A blog
I’m on Facebook
And also twitter.

Thanks for having me, Rachel. I had a great time being interviewed.

You are so welcome, April - I was wondering, you say you always write with your laptop in bed - does that mean your an early bird writer or a night owl?? Comments??

Welcome multi-published author, Brindle Chase!

I am thrilled to be able to welcome my very first male Erotic Romance writer to my blog - it is going to be so interesting to get a male perspective on the sub-genre, I am sure you will have receive lots of comments and questions, Brindle! Let's go with the interview and take it from there....

1) What is your writing routine?

My day job consumes 60-70 hours a week. Then daddy/husband duties take up the rest, so my writing routine is very structured. I have very little time to write, so I have to make the best use of my time. I get up early during the work week, so that I arrive early. I sit on the skybridge between the towers I work in and write for about a half hour in the morning. And then at lunch time, I get about another half hour done. When I have a sold book that requires revisions, I squeeze that in while helping my oldest daughter with her homework and watching TV with the rest of my family. I retreat to my office if deadlines are looming, but otherwise, I try not to let it impact the few hours I get with my family.

2) Which author/s inspire you to write?

Surprisingly, none of my favorite authors are in the genres I currently write. I’d have to say I’m new to romance. I’ve read a couple hundred romance books over the last few years, got bit by the bug and started writing them. But my most favorite authors write Fantasy. Go figure? If I had to name any, Steven Brust comes to mind first, so let’s give him the honor. Bram Stoker, J.R.R Tolkien too. Anne Rice, JR Ward, Gena Showalter.

3) Which is your favorite romance subgenre to read? To write?

Definitely paranormal. Vampires especially. I have been withholding my vampire novels until I learn more about the craft of writing. They are my babies, so-to-speak. But I do have a demon/angel series developing from my debut novel, Gothic City Lights.

4) How do you deal with criticism/rejection?

It stings but I use it as fuel. A rejection lets me know something’s wrong. Critique finds the problem and I go after the flaws in my stories with a vengeance. Sugar-coated tip-toeing around my writing won’t help me. I need someone to say “This sucks and here’s why”

5) What do you expect from an editor?

All of my editors have different approaches, but I love each of them for their different strengths. My only expectation from them is communication. Once we start a project, I need constant communication. I loathe sending an email and not hearing back from it for eight weeks. That whole time I am wondering if they even received it. I don’t care if it takes eight weeks, but please, please let me know you received it, so I can stop stressing. *lol*

6) Tell me about your latest release

My latest is a contemporary erotic romance from The Wild Rose Press, called Diva-licious. It’s a spicy tale of Taryn Blaze and Derek, who missed his chance to ask her out in highschool. She’s a diva and he won’t put up with it… here’s the blurb

Taryn Blaze is the reigning queen of rock-n-roll. An ultimate diva who's never been refused anything or anyone--until the hunky security guard doesn't show at the prescribed time, dressed in the white silk boxers her assistant had delivered to him. Outraged, Taryn does what she always does when she doesn't get her way--she throws a tantrum.

Derek Abrahms, a locally hired security guard, is thrilled when Taryn notices him, but instead of recognizing him from her past, she orders him to her hotel room for a night of lusty passion. Determined to teach the diva a lesson, he does what no man has ever done before--he denies the goddess.

When Taryn unleashes her prima dona temper, can Derek remind her of the sweet girl she once was? Or is his Diva-Licious just too wild to tame?

7) Tease us with a blurb or short excerpt

Adult Content Warning (explicit sexual activity)

The way he took her—kissed her—threw gas on the raging wildfire ripping through her body. Her pussy pulsed with yearning desire and need wept from her core, trickling along her thigh. Drawing ragged breaths, she stared into his luminous eyes.

God, please don’t leave me like this.

His breaths came as deep inhales of air and his heated body trembled beneath her. He was so beautiful, almost helpless beneath her as he lay in aftershock. He would need a few minutes and she kissed his gorgeous face. Several minutes passed and he seized her mouth with his hungrily.

His hands dropped to her thighs, caressing them. His touch sent heat through her and she mewled her pleasure. Up over her hips, he grazed her skin and his fingers spread wide across her ribcage, inching their way upward. He cupped her breasts, strumming his thumbs over her aching nipples.

She purred, gazing into his eyes, seeing them full of desire. The desperation between her legs grew and although she loved the caressing warmth of his strong fingers, she needed him inside her.

Derek’s hand wrapped around hers and guided it back to his cock. He handed her a condom. She took it, understanding and tenderly stroked his sensitive erection, feeling it resume its former tensile strength. It stretched taut, growing in her feather-soft grip, and she ached to take it inside her.

With trembling fingers, she slowly rolled the latex over the throbbing head. He was so big and she gazed deep into his eyes as she finished sheathing him.

8) Which is your favorite character in the book? Why?

I really connect with both the lead characters, but I’m especially proud of Derek. One of the things I have the most trouble with in the romance genre, is the male leads. I can’t identify with most of them and not for the reasons most would suspect. I read the characters and think, hey, I don’t know any guys like that. Not even close. With Derek, I wanted to show an aspect of the masculine perspective, but at the same time, not shun the experienced romance reader. There are several “musts” for writing romance, but I think I did a fair job of creating a hero that male readers might be able to relate too and still excite female readers as an alpha male.

9) What is next for you?

I have a contemporary erotic romance releasing later this year from Breathless Press, called Trading Up. I’m also working on a sequel for Gothic City Lights from Loose Id, and seven other projects. I hope to have multiple releases next year and continue establishing myself as an author.

10) What are you working on right now?

My current project, with a working title of “This is not Atlantis” is a contemporary erotic romance. This one is unique and is an experiment. It’s being written from the hero’s POV instead of the heroine’s and is using the classic plot structure of “battle of the sexes”. I hope to see how it is received. I want people to know men can be romantic too, but we definitely define it differently.

11) Your biggest piece of advice to aspiring novelists?

Write and read. All the time. Write as much as you can. Read the genres you want to write and above all, find honest critique and endure it. Listen to the criticism. It’s more valid than your emotional response wants you to believe.

12) Where can readers find you?

My web is www.forlorn-hope.net and I’m also on Facebook as Brindle Chase. My blog is at http://brindlechase.blogspot.com

Wow, I cannot believe you manage to find the time to write at all, Brindle! I struggle enough with a part-time job and two young children, if I was working the hours you are...hmmm, never gonna happen! OK, people, over to you!!

Less than a week to go!!!!

Just a little reminder that my first erotic romance novella is released Friday October 15th! I thought i should re-post Angela Anderson's beautiful cover art and a little excerpt to get the party started!

Laura’s portfolio thudded to the hardwood floor when his lips crushed hers. She had no idea if what she was doing was good or bad, but knew this was the freest, the happiest she had felt in a very long time. And she knew in that moment, nothing would stop her from taking what she could of this man for as long as possible.

As though reading her mind, they tumbled to the floor as one. Laura’s body burned, her breasts ached.

They clawed and ripped, grasped and tore. Laura cupped his stubbled jaw in her hands, scoring her fingers into his hair. She wanted to possess him, own him, have him. She felt fabulously petite in the span of his huge hands. She felt alive, vibrant and sexy as hell.

She writhed across the floor, and he crawled over her. Then her breath caught when he yanked open her blouse and drew her breasts from within the confines of her bra. He closed his mouth over first one nipple, then the other.

Here's the link to the buy link but remember it's not available until Friday!
