1)   Did you set any goals for 2012?

For writing or the rest of my life? LOL. Yes, in all cases. But, I’ll share the writing ones. I have a list of publishers I’d like the chance to work with and I have a list of books that have been swarming around in my mind that I’d like to write.

2)   What is the best part of the writing process for you?

Seeing the book come out.

3)   The worst part?

The Waiting.

4)   What is the book you wish you’d written?

Anything Nalini Singh writes. She’s brilliant.

5)   Favourite author/s & book/s?

Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling novels. 

6)   Tell us about your latest release?

Darkest Wolf is the seventh book in the Westervelt Wolves series. It is Rex’s story and the second to last book in the series.

7)   Tease us with a blurb/short except

The smells of human overindulgence wafted through his nose, making him want to turn on his heel and go out the way he’d gone in.

Rex Kane observed the scene before him with a strange amount of detachment, considering he was currently seeing his mate for the very first time. Two women--no, witches, he corrected--lay in strangely positioned forms frozen on the floor. Twins, he would guess them to be. Possibly even identical. He sniffed the air. Yep, they had matching scents. They were the very rare, but absolutely possible oddity, of identical twins. He would never be able to tell them apart, not by smell anyway.

His gaze moved slowly over the diner’s kitchen. At the moment, the twin witches offered no threat to him. They’d been frozen. He had no idea how long they’d stay immobile and, truth was, he didn’t particularly care. Witches didn’t frighten him. They annoyed the piss out of him--there was a difference.

The unconscious man, who, unless his nose was completely off, would wake up again shortly, also didn’t bother him. No, the elderly gentleman seemed to be temporarily stunned. He was also human. Not a threat.

But Rex did feel nervous and, considering how rarely anxiety bothered him, he was willing to acknowledge the sensation for a few brief seconds before he would deny it had ever happened completely. He raised an eyebrow and forced his attention to stay on the source of his temporary anxiety: his mate.

8)   What is your favourite attribute of the hero and heroine?

They’re both strong and tough while also being misunderstood.

9)   What’s next?

Right now I’m writing my next Outsider book

10)                  Tell me where you write?

All over my house. The bedroom.  The dining room.  The living room. Sometimes Starbucks.

11)                  Where would you like your career to be in 5 years?

I hope I’m still taking risks and writing stories people want to read.

As a teenager, Rebecca Royce would hide in her room to read her favorite romance novels when she was supposed to be doing her homework. She hopes, these days, that her parents think it was well worth it.

Rebecca is the mother of three adorable boys and is fortunate to be married to her best friend. They live in northern New Jersey and try not to freeze too badly during the winter months.

She's in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and tries to use all of these elements in her writing. She's been told she's a little bloodthirsty so she hopes that when you read her work you'll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. Waiting...waiting...waiting!!!

Good morning, lovely visitors!!

Well, the final edits (I hope!) have gone back to my editor for Zante Heat and now the wait begins once more...

These were the lengthy edits I have done thus far because my editor asked that I deepen the plot and so I ended up adding over 6,000 words. Zante Heat is nearly twice the length of Explicitly English and Coming Back, standing at just under 33,000 words. I am really excited about this story and hope you guys are too!

So what's next?

Well, I came back from a two-week vacation in Egypt last week and was busy writing while sunning myself in glorious 105 degree temperatures. Hey, a writer is a writer ALL the time! ;) Well...maybe not quite so much a writer as they are when hiding from the rain in the UK but at least I wrote something, lol! That something turned into 8,000 words so I plan to transfer them from my little notebook to the computer asap. With additions, I am hoping my current work in progress will grow to a healthy 14,000 words. (What do you think about the inspiration behind my hero and heroine??)

I think that will take this naughty female journalist and her show jumping hero to about halfway through their story...

Let's get started with the questions...

1)  Who is your favourite author and why?

This is a hard question because I don’t have just one, and also because I have so many writer friends. I feel bad if I don’t mention them J I do love Evangeline Anderson. She isn’t afraid to take a story where it needs to go.

2)  When did you first consider yourself a writer?

When I picked up a pencil to write my first story J I really enjoy creating different worlds. It’s my escape from reality.

3)  Describe your writing space?

Usually I’m at my huge oak desk I’ve had since I was 10 years old. I have all my business papers and bills spread across it with my laptop on a fan to keep it cool. The sexy writing overheats it sometimes J

4)  What are you reading now?

Mine by Mary Calmes

5)  How many books have your written?  Which is your favourite?

I’ve written 10 novels and short stories so far. The Long Con is by far my fave book so far. The chemistry is so hot! Each story is different though, like my next story, coming out from Dreamspinner Press is about going back in time and it’s like a big warm hug.

6)  What comes first, plot or characters?

Usually the characters show up first and tell me all about their story. Sometimes they quietly show up and wait to tell me what is going on in their lives that I need to know about.

7)  Do you ever suffer from writer’s block?

No. If I can’t write, it’s one of two things. First is my plot has jumped the tracks somewhere back on the plotline and I need to fix it. Second is when I suffer from keyboard fatigue and I just can’t physically write. When that happens, I tend to get some of my best plot work done or just read. 

8)  What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Dream about writing. :) I really enjoy creating these new worlds.

9)  Tell us about your latest book?

The Long Con is about Agent Nathaniel Bradley, who works for the UK’s Serious Organised Crime Agency. I had a great time writing this book, because my characters were forever changing their minds and going in another direction. I really had no choice but to follow them and keep journaling their story J

10) What’s next for you?

Vacation! J Well, actually I’m just coming off vacation so no, probably not. I have a lot in store in the coming months, including a short story from Dreamspinner Press as part of their Time Travel Daily Dose. It’s called Worth The Wait. J So keep an eye on my website for more updates.

My heart pounded, and I panted from exertion. Replete and relaxed, I knew my weight crushed him to the bed, but if he didn’t say anything, I wasn’t moving. I dropped a gentle kiss on his shoulder, tasting the salt from his skin when I licked my lips.

I opened my mouth, and my heart slammed against my rib cage when I realized what I had just been about to say. Before blurting out my love for him, I pulled out slowly and stood.

I needed to get my shit together and remember I was on a task, one of huge importance to Margaret. I took a deep breath and let it out. When he glanced at me over his shoulder, I put on the same mask I wore around everyone.

His eyes told me he saw beneath the surface, and that scared me. He was much too perceptive, and from this moment forward, I would have to be on my guard. “Are you okay?” he asked.

“Yeah. You almost killed me there.” I laughed it off, but it felt hollow to me. I left him on the bed and walked into bathroom.

I threw away the condom, and when I turned around, Tony stood in the doorway.

“Are you sure?” he asked, his frown worrying me.

I wanted him to drop it, so I just smiled and placed a kiss on his lips. “I’m sure.”

My explanation didn’t seem to satisfy him, but I didn’t stick around to give him the time to question me about it. I flipped on the shower and waited for the water to heat up, a little perturbed about how much I wanted him.

1) Who is your favourite author and why?

It's so hard to pick one, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan, Emma Lai, Sandra Sookoo to name a few.

2) When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Back in 1998 when I decided to take my writing seriously

3) Describe your writing space?

Right now, my writing space is the guest bedroom, it has my desk, bunk beds, a small craft desk, another desk with my printer on it. Two small bookcases. But soon, I'll have a room that is only my office.

4) What are you reading now?

Right now I'm reading Fifty Shades of Grey

5) How many books have your written? Which is your favourite?

I've written 15 books, and I really don't have a favorite.

6) What comes first, plot or characters?

Usually characters

7) Do you ever suffer from writer’s block?

Yes, I don't really think about it as writer's block, I think of it as my well has run dry so it's time to refill the well by doing something just for myself.

8) What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Reading, walking, talking about writing, oh and sleeping.

9) Tell us about your latest book?

His for the Weekend

“I can’t take this anymore.” Her voice was whisper soft, but he heard the words as clear as if she had shouted them.

His heart leaped—now he could prove to her there was more to him than a co-worker and give their relationship a chance. “What are you willing to give me?”

Her head snapped up and she gnawed on her lip. “Twenty-four hours.”

“Not enough. A hundred and twenty.”

Her mouth opened then closed. Her gaze darted left, then right, before settling back on his face. He could almost see the wheels turning in her head. A good sign—she was willing to be his.

“Too long. Forty-eight.”

He stood and crossed over to her. He needed to be close to her as they negotiated. “Still not enough. Ninety-six uninterrupted hours with you.”

Her nose scrunched up and her lashes swept down, cutting off the view of her expressive eyes. “Sixty—six tonight until six Monday morning.”

He noted the stubborn set to her chin. It wasn’t ideal, but he could do it. He would not fail in winning her over. Leaning close, he whispered, “I’ll take it.”

She exhaled, lashes rising until she stared at him. “What are the ground rules?”

“There are none.”

Her eyes widened. Oh, yes, he had her now and he wasn’t letting go.

“No barriers. No rules.”

Her shoulders dipped, then straightened. She acted like she was preparing for a battle, but it would be a battle of sex. “All right, but when the sixty hours are done, we’re finished. I mean it. No flowers, no gifts, no mention of this weekend. Ever.”

Without another word, she spun on her heels to walk out of his office.

He was quick to cross the room. He captured her by the shoulders, bringing her to a halt. His lips brushed her ear and a shiver shook her. “Remember what I said at the party?”

She didn’t answer him, but her swift intake of breath was the only answer he needed.

“You belong to me.”

“I belong to no man.”

He slid his hands down her arms, past her clenched fists and encircled her waist, bringing her back flush against his chest, her breathing shallow.

She didn’t struggle, not even when he tilted his hips, letting her know how much she aroused him.

“You will belong to me. I promise.”

1) Did you set any goals for 2012?

Yes! I very high financial one :).

2) What is the best part of the writing process for you?

Typing "the end." Writing is difficult work, as any writer will tell you. To quote Gloria Steinem, "I do not like to write. I like to have written."

3) The worst part?

Sitting down at the computer and just doing it. I'm an expert at procrastination!

4) What is the book you wish you’d written?

Fifty Shades of Grey. I haven't even read it yet, but I'd love for one of my books to go viral like that!

5) Favourite author/s & book/s?

Too many to count! A few who have inspired me through the years: Lisa Kleypas, Judy Blume, J. K. Rowling, Jaid Black, Nora Roberts, Laura Ingalls Wilder...an eclectic mix, I know.

Oral Invitation is my first release as B.J. Hayes. My alter ego, Helen Hardt, has been publishing since 2008. I wanted a new name for my m/m work.

“Okay, I’ll give you a call.” He pressed the brochure into Dylan’s hand. “You can keep this. I hope you’ll think about going.”

“I sure will. I haven’t had the time for a long ride in a while. I’ve missed it.” He took a long draft of his beer. “I used to ride all summer when I was in college, the years after college, too. I haven’t had time lately. Been too busy building my business. I sure miss the sun and wind on my face, though. So relaxing.”

“I know what you mean,” Jackson said. “There’s something about being on that bike that relaxes me like nothing else.” He let out a soft chuckle. “Well, almost nothing else.”

“Yeah.” Dylan couldn’t help smiling. “I’d take a good blow job over a bike ride any day.”

“Me, too.” Jackson looked straight into Dylan’s eyes. “You want one now?”

Dylan nearly blew beer out his nose. “Excuse me?”

Jackson’s dark eyes penetrated his skin. Dylan closed his own for a moment, but Jackson’s stare still burned him. Like a thousand little fire-laden thorns prickling his entire body.

“I asked if you’d like a blow job.” Jackson’s deep voice was husky, sensual.

“Well…b-by whom?” Dylan stammered.

Jackson’s full lips curled upward into a teasing grin. “By me, fool.”

Dylan swallowed. “You can’t be serious.”

“Oh, I am.”

“Oh my God.”

“You haven’t lived until you’ve had a blow job by a guy. Guys have stronger mouths, and I’ll never complain about my jaw aching, because I’ll enjoy every mind blowing minute of it.”

8) What is your favourite attribute of the hero and heroine?

I guess I'll answer for both heroes, lol. What I like most about Dylan is his innocence. What I like most about Jack is his love of people for who they are, not their gender. And of course they're both smokin' hot!

9) What’s next?

What's not next? Lol. I'm getting ready to self publish some of my backlist, I'm working on a two-part series on self-editing, and I'm toying with an anthology of lesbian erotica. I'm also getting ready to submit stories to two of my publishers.

10) Tell me where you write?

I'm lucky enough to have an office in my home. I do most of my writing there.

11) Where would you like your career to be in 5 years?

I would like to be self-supporting as a writer. With my name on the NYT bestseller list, of course!
