Hi Qwillia! I am thrilled to have you here and to be a part of your tour - I LOVE your covers and particularly can't wait to read the Christmas one. Yum! Okay, let's get started with the interview…
1. What do you wish men understood about women?
That when
we discuss a problem with them, we aren’t asking for them to solve the
situation, we just want input and another perspective. Unless we ask
specifically for something to be fixed or solved, when we talk, it’s more about
communication than direction.
2. Do you only work on one book at a time?
Only during the editing stage, I don’t like to split my attention
during that time. When I’m working on the rough drafts, I can juggle up to
three, sometimes four, stories—I just bounce between them when one stops
talking to me.
3. Who is your favorite fictional couple?
In my
books I flip between a few couples. Currently it’s Rick Bennett and Becka
Swinfield and ZJ Justiss and Maggie Halsey. For other books there are way too
many, but off the top of my head, I’d say Maren and Steele from Forged in Steele by Maya Banks and
Chance and Sunny from Game of Chance
by Linda Howard.
4.
Do you have a
favorite quote that sums up how you feel about life?
There
are actually two I really like:
The
first is one I used to post in my classroom.
“No
matter how right you are; No matter how hard you try; Sometimes the dragon
wins”
The
second my mom used a lot.
“Life
is a great teacher; unfortunately, she kills all her students”
5.
Do you set daily
writing goals? Word count? Number of chapters? Do you get a chance to write
every day?
I
try not to set daily goals mainly because if I set goals, I tend to view
writing like a job and I’ll try to avoid it. Crazy, I know, but that’s how I
get—if you have to have a goal to have fun, then it’s not fun. As for a chance
to write everyday—I make sure I take the time to write as much as possible.
Sometimes it isn’t every day, but I jot notes down as often as they come to me.
6.
What do
you like better, Twitter or Facebook? Why?
Facebook. Mainly because I can engage in full
conversations on FB not just snippets.
7. What are you working on now?
At the time I was writing this interview I was slogging through
completing the rough drafts of the second Poker Posse book and fifth Diablo
Blanco Club book.
8.
Tell us
about your latest release and where we can find it
My latest release as of August is a short story exclusive to Loose
Id and part of my new Poker Posse series. Revealed
deals with the emotional fall out between Viola Whittman, the mother of the main
character in the first Poker Posse book, Looking
at Rose, and Vladamir Presnaytz, the dominant Viola fell in love with
nearly three decades earlier. Several readers wanted to know about them, so
when the opportunity to write a “fling” came around, I jumped at it.

What's a Dom to do when the submissive he wants runs from the feelings between them?
From the moment he met Lyssa Lawrence, Mike Halsey knew what he felt was love -- not lust. Convincing her has been an uphill battle even after the two steamy hours they'd shared at the Diablo Blanco Club four years earlier.
Lyssa Lawrence wished the man who claimed to love her wasn't so damned appealing. Eight years of denying the pull of her submissive nature almost went up in smoke four years ago, but she'd gathered the nerve to tell him 'no' when he asked for more. She'd have stayed away for good if her biological clock hadn't hiccuped, threatening her dreams of motherhood.
In the same way she'd strategized her success in fashion design, Lyssa worked out a plan to get the baby she wanted. The Diablo Blanco Club's annual Midnight Masquerade would provide a number of potential donors to choose from. What she hadn't bargained on was Mike's interference through an arcane Club rule.
When Mike invoked Rite of First Claim, Lyssa finally became his. Now, he has one month to prove that the role of his submissive was one she was born to play.

After four years of unrequited love, and steamy fantasies, Elfina
"Elf" Jeffries has just about given up on gaining her boss's
attention. How was any self-respecting woman supposed to seduce a man who was
oblivious to her cues? Then the first gift arrived...
Every Santa needs an Elf, and Dayton Kringle is no exception. His offer
for a temporary affair, just long enough to get from Christmas Eve to New
Year's, will satisfy a four-year craving.
His is a simple design:
One beautiful Elf
Twelve sexy gifts
A little spanking
Some light bondage
And ten days of no-strings sex
make one very satisfied Santa. But when the ten days are up, will he be
able to give up the Elf of his wildest Dominant dreams?

situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal sex, bondage,

EXCERPT - SANTA'S ELF
Excerpt :
If he had
to watch Elfina Jeffries’s sweet little heart shaped ass sashay past him one more
day, Dayton Kringle knew he’d explode. He fingered the gold and silver necklace
in his pocket, determined to remain in control until his administrative
assistant reached her car and slid behind the wheel. Despite his silent order
to himself not to, he couldn’t keep his gaze from dropping to the sexy legs
exposed by the above the knee length skirt of her green elf costume. The fact
that she’d exchanged three inch black stilettos for the black slippers after
they’d returned to the office only made the view that much more appealing.
As she
leaned out to grab the door, Dayton gritted his teeth to stifle a groan when he
spotted the wide border of green lace and the silky suspender from a garter
belt against the creamy thigh revealed by the hiked up hem of her white trimmed
skirt.
“The
homeless shelter Monday night?” Elfina asked as she tugged the door closed.
“Yes. We’re
due there by half past six.” He frowned at the unlocked doors and rolled down
driver’s side window. “Keep your doors locked, Elf.”
She shook her
head and laughed before starting the sedan. “Eldon and Raymond keep an eye on
the garage.”
Dayton’s
fingers tightened on the necklace in his pocket. “Better to be safe—”
“—than
sorry. I know. I’ll try to remember tomorrow.”
She waved
and pulled out of the garage.

A fabulous post thank you. I love both of those quotes.

Thank you for stopping by, Mary. I think both the quotes are reminders that you shouldn't take life too seriously, but don't waste it either.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rachel, for having me on your blog today. I love my covers too, both the original ones and the new ones.

LOL, Andra, I never said I was sane, just love to write!

Great interview! I'd have to agree about the not setting a definite page count or word count goal. I feel like I write better when I don't put myself under a deadline, personally.
ReplyDeletefalcondraco at Hotmail dot com
Exactly, Merciful Maiden...it took me a long time to figure it out...I tend to get very frustrated with myself if I don't meet the goal which only makes things worse.
DeleteSounds like a great series!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!

ReplyDeleteThank you Becki. I love the series too. Which book do you like the most?
DeleteSo far, it's Santa's Elf. I want my own 12 days of Christmas ;)
DeleteI'm there with you...but wait until I finish Rick and Becka...that may make you change your mind about the quiet types...
DeleteQ
What goes into your decision process to the names you give your characters?
ReplyDeletekareninnc at gmail dot com
Karen, most of the time, the characters tell me their names. For the Poker Posse series, my mom named the mothers, but the daughters told me theirs...although one of the characters had a name change midway through edits on Rose's book-- Alanor became Helena, because her nickname and Arabella's were too similar.
ReplyDeleteQ
I loved Revealed. I was sure I'd hate Viola for what she did, but I didn't. In fact, I'm still a little mad at Vlad for not spending his entire life searching for her like, in my opinion, he should have.
ReplyDeleteBut he did look for her ... not giving away any spoilers! But you liked the ending, right? Wait 'til you see what happens to Rae...
DeleteQ
I love your quotes! I can't wait to start reading your books! How is it that I haven't come across you before? :(
ReplyDeleteMelissa dot M dot Byrnes at gmail dot com
Melissa, I hope you enjoy the books when you get the chance to start reading them.
